What else is there to do? Leap up? Run about, blindly? Strike into walls? Invite shackling? Risk cuffings, kicks, the whip? This is particularly the case if her clothing is removed. Removing the clothing of a free woman often produces immediate docility, by itself, particularly if she is knelt, or put to her back or belly. She may then be wary of moving, at all, lest she should inadvertently make of herself an allurement, one of irresistible interest.
